Peter Houghton

Chair

Peter was born and raised in far southwest Queensland, in a small pub west of Quilpie. Whilst living in Blackall in the late 1980s, he met and married Jo, a Mackay local who was teaching in Blackall at the time. The two moved to Mackay and bought City Gates and Fencing, which they ran together for 24 years. In 2021, Peter and Jo sold the business to enjoy retirement together.

Peter was involved with the Trudy Crowley Foundation as their preferred auctioneer for events and then followed Jo as a Foundation volunteer. In 2025, he was asked to join the TCF Board as its Chair.
